The tidal force is in fact very weak and should be expected to exercise no more gravitational pull on the human body than a mosquito. Besides this, the "suggestion" failed to account for the dependence of tides from both the phase of the moon and the time of day. A further suggestion is that positive ions increase in abundance during a full moon and that this should be expected to influence human behavior. However, this is a pseudo-scientific claim. (...)For some 3 - 4 million years, bipedal hominins in the East African Rift valley were evolving in potential conflict and competition with fearsome carnivores including sabre-toothed cats equipped with excellent night-vision. Using the largest data set ever recorded – 1,000 lion attacks on humans across Tanzania between 1988 and 2009 – Craig Packer and his colleagues showed that there is a peak of attacks by lions upon humans during the evening dark hours following full moon. According to Packer, this may help explain why so many myths and superstitions attribute fearsome dangers and nightmarish potencies to the moon. While not all archaeologists accept that lunar periodicity was ever relevant to human evolution, those favouring the idea include Curtis Marean, who heads excavations at the important Middle Stone Age site of Pinnacle Point, South Africa. Marean argues that anatomically modern humans around 165,000 years ago – when inland regions of the continent were dry, arid and uninhabitable – became restricted to small populations clustered around coastal refugia, reliant on marine resources including shellfish whose safe harvesting at spring low tides presupposed careful tracking of lunar phase. Against this background, if Marean is right, humans who ignored or misread the moon might frequently have been drowned.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar_effect……………One of two justifications are commonly given for how the moon might influence human behavior. The moon basically has two physical effects on our environment – gravity and light (...) therefore if the full moon effect were due to tidal forces there should be an equal new moon effect. (...) So the ocean tides are caused by the different gravitational pull of the moon on the near side vs far side of the Earth. The tidal force of the moon between the near side and far side of your head is negligible. (...) 12 studies are reviewed that have examined the relationships among crisis calls to police stations, poison centers, and crisis intervention centers and the synodic lunar cycle. On the basis of the studies considered it is concluded that no good foundation exists for the belief that lunar phase is related to the frequency of crisis calls. In addition, there is no evidence whatsoever for the contention that calls of a more emotional or “out-of-control” nature occur more often at the full moon.(...)Why, then, does belief in this effect remain high? Surveys show that belief in this effect remains at about 40-45%, even among those highly educated. In fact, mental health workers have a greater belief in the lunar effect. The short answer as to why this is – confirmation bias.Confirmation bias is a bias in human thinking that causes us to notice, accept, and remember information that confirms beliefs we already have, while ignoring, forgetting, or explaining away contradictory data. This is a powerful effect that can lead to the very compelling illusion that an effect is real when it isn’t.http://theness.com/neurologicablog/index.php/the-lunar-effect-and-confirmation-bias/……………There is a more serious problem for fervent believers in the lunar lunacy effect: no evidence that it exists. Florida International University psychologist James Rotton, Colorado State University astronomer Roger Culver and University of Saskatchewan psychologist Ivan W. Kelly have searched far and wide for any consistent behavioral effects of the full moon. In all cases, they have come up empty-handed. By combining the results of multiple studies and treating them as though they were one huge study—a statistical procedure called meta-analysis—they have found that full moons are entirely unrelated to a host of events, including crimes, suicides, psychiatric problems and crisis center calls. In their 1985 review of 37 studies entitled “Much Ado about the Full Moon,” which appeared in one of psychology’s premier journals, Psychological Bulletin, Rotton and Kelly humorously bid adieu to the full-moon effect and concluded that further research on it was unnecessary".http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/lunacy-and-the-full-moon/?page=1……………(Studies of full moon effects)http://www.livescience.com/7899-moon-myths-truth-lunar-effects.html……………«Υπάρχουν διαφορές μεταξύ των ανθρώπων που γεννήθηκαν στο επίπεδο της θάλασσας με αυτούς που γεννήθηκαν σε μεγάλο υψόμετρο.»(... και οι άνθρωποι που έχουν γεννηθεί στον Ισημερινό vs αυτοί που έχουν γεννηθεί κοντά στους Πόλους)Πού εντοπίζονται οι διαφορές; Στο χαρακτήρα τους ...ή σε επιμέρους χαρακτηριστικά ανατομίας/φυσιολογίας τους; Τhe strength of gravity on the "surface" of the sun is 28 times stronger than the force of gravity on the surface of the Earth. But if you really want to compare, the Sun’s effect on your body is 100 times that of the Moon’s, which itself is 100 times that of Jupiter’s. Yet, even the Sun’s 10,000 strong effect than Jupiter’s is insignificant compared to the effect of the Earth on your body.http://schollii2.wordpress.com/2009/11/11/gravitational-effect-of-celestial-bodies-on-your-own-body/….οπότε, βάση των προηγούμενων αν είναι να εξετάσουμε τώρα την *διαφορά* μεταξύ βαρύτητας που ασκεί ο Ήλιος ανάλογα με την θέση κάθε φορά (ή κάθε άλλου ουράνιου σώματος), μάλλον θα είμαστε σε ένα νούμερο κοντά στο *παντελώς* μηδαμινό.
