Jake, apparently you are not aware of research done on the Greek diet, which happens to be the prototype for the Mediterranean Diet. This diet is being continually studied, with positive results every time. Even as recent as yesterday a new study came out on the Mediterranean diet and it's relationship with dementia. In any case you may not be aware that the traditional Greek diet was mainly vegetarian, Greek fasted from animal products for almost 200 days a year, which explains why we have so many vegetarian dishes. It is unfortunate that you now live in Greece and are not aware of all the vegetarian recipes that Greek and Mediterranean cuisine has to offer.
