Από την πρώτη στιγμή που εμφανίστηκε η φωτογραφία στο τέλος του 19ου αιώνα, πριν ακόμα τις γκρινιάρες γάτες στο instagram, τους σκαντζόχοιρους σταρ και τα best seller με πρωταγωνιστές σκυλιά, τα ζώα ήταν ένα πολύ αγαπημένο θέμα για τους φωτογράφους. Από τις φωτογραφίες με άγρια ζώα του William Wegman σε σκηνές κυνηγιού μέχρι τα χαριτωμένα μικρά ζώα σε φωτογραφίσεις μόδας του Harper Bazaar και από την δαγεροτυπία και τις στερεοσκοπικές εκτυπώσεις μέχρι τις ψηφιακές φωτογραφίες των κινητών και τα βίντεο του ΥοuTube είναι κυριολεκτικά αμέτρητα τα ζώα που έχουν περάσει ως εικόνες στην ιστορία. Τριάντα-πέντε από αυτές τις εικόνες, κινούμενες και ακίνητες, που εικονογραφούν την εξέλιξη της φωτογραφίας και του βίντεο, ξεκινώντας από το άλογο του Eadweard J. Muybridge's που καλπάζει που είναι μια σπουδή στην κίνηση μέσα από τον πειραματισμό με το –τότε- νέο μέσο, τις ιστορικές φωτογραφίες σημαντικών ονομάτων όπως οι Alfred Stieglitz, William Eggleston, Taryn Simon, Sandy Skoglund μέχρι τα άγρια σκυλιά του Daniel Naudé παρουσιάζονται στην έκθεση ‘In Focus: Animalia’ στο J. Paul Getty Museum, στο Getty Center στο Λος Άντζελες, μέχρι τις 18 Οκτωβρίου.
