Το ίδρυμα Cartier εστιάζει το ενδιαφέρον του στον κόσμο του αυτοκινήτου και με την έκθεση Autophoto παρουσιάζει τη σχέση της φωτογραφίας μ' αυτό. Από τις αρχές του προηγούμενου αιώνα που άρχισε και η μαζική παραγωγή του το αυτοκίνητο είναι αναπόσπαστο κομμάτι της ζωής των ανθρώπων. Έχει αναμορφώσει το τοπίο μας, έχει επεκτείνει τους γεωγραφικούς μας ορίζοντες και έχει αλλάξει ριζικά την αντίληψή μας για το χώρο και το χρόνο, επηρεάζοντας αναπόφευκτα την προσέγγιση των φωτογράφων στους οποίους πρόσφερε ένα νέο θέμα, μια νέα οπτική γωνία και έναν νέο τρόπο εξερεύνησης του κόσμου.
Η έκθεση παρουσιάζει 500 περίπου έργα από 100 σύγχρονους και παλιότερους καλλιτέχνες από όλο τον κόσμο, συμπεριλαμβανομένων των Jacques-Henri Lartigue, του Lee Friedlander, της Rosângela Renno και του Yasuhiro Ishimoto. Καταγράφοντας την γεωμετρία των δρόμων, τις αντανακλάσεις σε έναν καθρέφτη ή την ιδιαίτερη σχέση μας με αυτό, το για πολλούς αντικείμενο πόθου, αυτοί οι φωτογράφοι μας προσκαλούν να δούμε τον κόσμο του αυτοκινήτου με έναν νέο τρόπο.
