Ο Matthew Buchholz μάλλον έβρισκε την αμερικανική ιστορία πολύ βαρετή και αποφάσισε να της προσθέσει στοιχεία που θα την κάνουν λίγο πιο συναρπαστική. Δημιούργησε λοιπόν την "Εναλλακτική Ιστορία" προσθέτοντας σε γνωστές εμβληματικές καρτ ποστάλ, μπόλικα φανταστικά στοιχεία με εξωγήινους, τέρατα, ρομπότ, ζόμπις και άλλα φανταστικά πλάσματα και δημιουργήματα επιστημονικής φαντασίας.
